BF6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Way Too Hard
The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Gamers have begun resorting to tailored sessions made via the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how grueling these assignments have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. It features four types of assignments, but where most only reward skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 main guns available in the game.
Several of these gated guns could shortly make their appearance on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry across Reddit
On Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This mission is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and only works at very short distances, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Mission
Another Reddit user brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, within the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and possibly a classic map if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.
The Workaround
However, there is a solution: the portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
However, when completing the missions in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for completing them in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?
Potential Changes
It is expected if several of these tasks are made easier in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply will never acquire the locked firearms.
Currently, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these demanding battlefield assignments, anticipating a less arduous player experience in coming revisions.
